Setting myself challenges that take me beyond my fears give me personal satisfaction and make me happy. Also doing thing to help charities knowing they help make a difference in someones life.
I met Malcolm at a campsite in Glendambo (which is essentially the middle of nowhere) on my way up to Yulara. After some chats in the evening we decided it would be nice to travel with someone else on two wheels and convoyed up the highway to Coober Pedy the next morning. While I don't have a headset making chatting impossible, it was awesome to be riding with someone and have some companionship before my long solo ride across the middle of the country... plus he picked an awesome restaurant to stop for a lunch burger. It's always great to meet fellow moto-travelers.
Malcolm is motivated to ride having recently sold his vacation home in order to explore Australia on a BMW GS1200. He's spent his life driving big vehicles, starting with bus's in the Sydney area and moving on to garbage trucks now. "I've always moved garbage, at least no it doesn't talk back". An avid dirt bike rider as a youth, like many the bikes were put to the side with family developments and other life needs. But like many, when opportunity presented itself to get back on he got right back into riding with a CB500R, and quickly upgraded to his current black beauty, and has been doing the riding thing the right way - taking courses whenever he can to get better and safer on two wheels. Despite getting horizontal more than a couple times on his adventure, which you can find on instagram @saorsa_travels , he seems entirely undeterred and I can see him pushing that bike to its limits for a long time!
