I'm Colby Ellis, and I was born in 1988 in Vancouver Canada... and other than an adventure here and there this has always been my home.
I completed an Engineering degree in 2012 at the University of British Columbia and took a job as a Site Engineer for a four month posting with the intention of making a quick buck and running away to see the world. Alas, I got caught in the cycle of general life. Find a partner, develop a career, find a home, etc etc etc... not bad things by any means but not what I had imagined for my life. Finally 5 years and 9 months later (term extended by a measly 1725%) I'm off!
I've always been enthralled by Motorcycles, it probably stems from both the manly adventurous culture, and the fact that my dad was a motocross racer and kept his motorcycles around my whole life (although they were locked away in the garage...when my sister and I were born my mom cut him off haha). Riding remained a stagnant dream for a long time with discussions lightly started in high school with friends, and later on in travels where it was frequently dreamed of one day taking motorbikes around New Zealand together... but it took until 2016 for me to get on a motorbike (Long Read for that
here). Thankfully it happened, because it's become one of my life's great joys alongside Hockey and Skiing (good Canadian kid eh?).
And here I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes that has exemplified so much of my life over the last 6 years:
"The most dangerous risk of all, the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later" - Randy Komisar
